We really enjoy the diversity of this area of South West France, from seaside to countryside, chateax and markets, vineyards and rivers.
We are fortunate enough to live both in the UK, on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds, and also at La Maison Pierre in Monségur. Having spent many years holidaying in South West France, we decided to design and have built a home which we could spend some quality time in. Built using stone from the nearby quarry in Vianne, we wanted to create a home with character, light, space and all mod cons. Cool in summer and cosy in winter - our home for all seasons.
These are some of our favourite things we enjoy in France:
Relaxing on our terraces enjoying a glass, or two, of the wonderful local wines, with the company of our friends or neighbours, or together, watching the sun set over the hills around Monségur.
Enjoying the gorgeous food of the area, either simple fresh dishes cooked at home, or enjoyinng a meal at one of the many fine restaurants of the area.
We love the many beautiful walks around the ramparts of Monsegur, along the valley of the River Dropt, or the many miles of the Canal Lateral de La Garonne or the great rivers of this area.
Of course, the sunshine helps us enjoy all of these things, and South West France certainly has this in abundance. The sunflowers and vines which cover the surrounding area are a truly stunning sight to behold.
In the cooler months, snuggled up in front of the log fire, listening to our favourite music. Or visiting some of the fairytale Christmas markets, with their wonderful festive spirit.
OUT OF SEASON, WOULD YOU LIKE TO 'LIVE THE DREAM' ?
When we designed 'La Maison Pierre' we wanted a home for all seasons, cool in summer and cosy in winter. This makes it perfect for out of season holidays and for extended house hunting visits.
If you are planning to buy or build a home in South West France, may we suggest that you spend time during the cooler months staying in the area. Winter has a very special magic here and it's a real contrast to the busier months of summer.
